You are Invited to Attend the Inaugural
Gettysburg Conference on World War II
March 18-20, 2010 at the Wyndham
Gettysburg Hotel, Gettysburg, PA
with Robert J. Dalessandro, Head of Faculty, and Joseph Balkoski,
Michael G. Knapp,
Christopher L. Kolakowski, Samuel Lombardo, Michael E. Lynch,
C. Robert
Mullauer, John F. Shortal, and Special Guest and Banquet Speaker,
Alexander
Jefferson of the Tuskegee Airmen
Gettysburg is rightly revered as America’s most renowned Civil
War site. But it also has a rich World War II heritage accentuated by the
Eisenhower farm, on the battlefield’s edge, where Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower
enjoyed some of their happiest times, and which served them well as a weekend
retreat during the Eisenhower Presidency. And it should serve us well as a base
for our new annual conference on World War II.
We
have assembled a faculty of nine notable World War II historians to offer
presentations on such topics as Normandy, the British 1st Airborne at Arnhem Bridge, Ned Almond and the Buffalo Soldiers, Bataan, Peleliu,
and Forgotten Commanders of the Pacific Theater. Two of them know their
subjects first-hand - war heroes Sam
Lombardo of the 99th Infantry Division and Alexander Jefferson of the Tuskegee Airmen who will speak to us, in riveting terms, of their WWII experiences.
We
have chosen the premier hotel in the area to host our conference - the Wyndham
Gettysburg, 95 Presidential Circle, Gettysburg, PA 17325, where we have
reserved a block of sleeping rooms at the special rate of $119 per night – Single or Double. To reserve a room under our block, call 717-339-0020 and identify yourself as a registrant for the World
War II Conference. You will likely want to book your room for
the nights of March 18, 19 & 20 with a checkout on March 21. As a special
inducement for you to attend the
conference AND stay at the Wyndham, we will reduce your registration fee by
$30, $60 or $90 depending on whether you book a room at the Wyndham for one,
two or three nights at the Wyndham during the conference. This will, in effect,
reduce your room rate to $89 per night to stay at this first rate hotel. We hope you’ll join us for the inaugural Gettysburg Conference on World War II.
